MUSEUM DIRECTOR (Part-time)
SHADY SIDE RURAL HERITAGE SOCIETY
Starting Salary Range: $16,000 - $17,500
The Shady Side Rural Heritage Society seeks a
Director with substantial museum experience, proven leadership
skills and the ability to work collaboratively with volunteers
and partner organizations to manage operations of a vibrant
local history organization and museum in the Chesapeake Bay
region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the Board of Trustees the Director will
be responsible for:
Acquisition and care of Museum and Library collections, and
preservation of historic buildings
Development and implementation of exhibits and educational programs
for adults, children and the community
Coordination of volunteers
Grant-writing and grant management
Development and editing of newsletter, and
Implementation of the Society's Strategic Plan.
The Director will:
- Supervise a part-time Administrator and a corps of dedicated
volunteers.
- Work with the Treasurer to manage the SSRHS budget and evaluate
fiscal operations, and
- Act as a liaison to the community and partnering organizations
on behalf of the Society.
Qualifications:
Leadership and good communication skills required. Must demonstrate
strong interpersonal and public relations skills, and work
effectively with volunteers. Grant-writing and project management
experience necessary.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Museum Studies, History, Preservation
or other related field, and a breadth of museum experience.
Knowledge of and interest in Chesapeake Bay history a plus.
